CANNING Fruits and Tomatoes

Whether you are putting up peaches or tomatoes, the principles of getting fruit in the jar are the same.  This class will cover canning techniques, methods and recipes that put you in control of the sweetness and pack style of your canned product. We will also discuss how variety of ingredient affects future use. Students will get hands-on experience in preparing and canning fruits and tomatoes along with a little taste test of market tomatoes.  Each student will go home with printed materials and a jar of tomatoes and seasonal fruit. This three-hour class will give you the competency to take advantage of the summer’s bounty and give you access to additional phone consultation with your instructor should you need it.
